2021 one little word - hope

My one little word for 2021 is Hope. It'll have a different meaning for everyone. I'm an optimist and I always live in hope for a better tomorrow.

christmas 2013

When the shops start stocking Christmas bits and pieces each year, I take a good look at what I could use for scrapbooking purposes. I'll often collect items immediately after Christmas when they are hugely discounted to use later on.  I bought a set of gift tags with an idea in mind and this is how they turned out as interactive layouts with photos and journaling inside each card.

Hope you all had a great Christmas with loved ones, whether that was in real life or by virtual means, in this new covid aware environment.

free

Keeping it clean and simple. This LO is loosely inspired by Steffi Ried on the Paige Evans design team. Steffi had larger layered balls as baubles, whereas I've downsized them and used them to imitate balloons.

christmas 2020

Christmas was at home this year to both the kids working in their respective jobs on Christmas eve and Miss A again on Boxing day. We had up my Grandfather, the kids Great Grandfather, for the day. He's 97 so every event with him is special.

We had oysters, yabbies, pork roast with the best crackle, crunchy potatoes and baked asparagus sprinkled with parmesan from the air fryer. I concocted a wreath choc ripple biscuit cake smothered vanilla cream with berries, baileys and mint.  It was a winner with the kids requesting to make it again.

A little behind the scenes work paid off beautifully with Grandpa being able to video call his Chris over in England. They've not seen each other since Feb and have had only had email contact since then. So for them to both 'see' each other and talk to each other was a joy to watch before I shut the door and left them too it for the next hour.

A day spent at home with my special people and making memories.

issue 99

Back in the day of scrapbooking magazines, I was asked to write a few feature articles on photography for Scrapbook Creations. Sadly magazines have disappeared due to the advent of online stimulation rather finding it from the glossy mags.

LO inspired by Ann Tamimi from Paper Issues

1 to 1 & way to go

It was so good to get in amongst it with my local craft community yesterday. Not everyone scraps anymore. Some have crossed over to the dark side of crochet, drawing and sewing. No matter what craft we do, we are each other's tribe.

We had nearly a 12 hour day of it starting at 1 and finished up around midnight. It was a particularly breezy afternoon and although we could hear the wind we didn't quite fathom exactly how windy it really was. (📸 ABC Eyre Peninsula)

Quite a few of the well established feral pines went over in the wind on Flinders Highway. A mini cyclone must have ripped through there as the trunks were just splintered. There's quite a gap between the pines in that area now.

During the course of the day/night I did this LO, plus another, which I'll show later.

Jane, Karen and I followed up with a most delicious brunch at L'anse next morning.

toif 4 fity ¢

When the first tooth falls out, the next one isn't far behind. I had a play with the title with the idea of 2 hundry & fity k in mind, hence the toif 4 fity ¢

tumby time 2013

I love to document our annual holiday by the sea with photos. I then template them to make maximum use of as many images I can to tell the stories and trigger the memories.

I usually do a his and hers for each of their albums. Similar but not quite as each one is tailored to each kiddo.

golf

Back in 2013 I first tried my hand at that funny game called golf. I never would have guessed in time how much I would love the game. The first outing was a great day and I've recorded it in detail for memory keeping. I kept the scorecard from the day and the newspaper report of that day too.

2to2

Cocoa Vanilla Studio Daydream is just so dreamy to play with. I just can't get enough of it.
All the blooms were fussy cut from the floral paper in the collection.

totally awesome

This LO bolted together with the red in the rainbow and the red jumper. Loving all things rainbow atm.

Title fussy cut from the Simple Stories Bro&Co collection.

be the rainbow

Totally inspired by Stefanie Ried from the Paige Evans design team. Title shameless pinched from a line in the Skittles ad.

gappy

At a recent scrappy 4 day weekend away, it became a fussy cut weekend for me. Nearly every LO had fussy cut elements on it. This one was loosely inspired by Marie of lottielovespaper.co.uk that I found on Pinterest. It was mostly the Vicki Boutin rainbow coloured stars that grabbed my eye.

#nifty50 & feeling fab

Turning 50 ain't so bad. Especially taking 4 days to celebrate it with friends, cocktails and scrapbooking. A very special Mel put in a special effort with the gold decorations and loving birthday touches. She made me feel pretty spesh. Another dear friend brought along a gold star piñata which I've repurposed the golden fringing on this LO.  Gotta love keeping a piece of that weekend forever preserved.

my favourite people

The Daydream range from Cocoa Vanilla Studio is just divine. The perfect blend of pastel rainbow colours and rainbows are so me right now.

this is us

This is a loose interpretation of Gelencser Anett's LO with a Tiff twist.

I'm so loving all things rainbow atm.

you & me

I tried to move the gold journal strips to the top of the page, but I damaged the pic at little in trying to remove them so they've stayed put. I feel they cut the photo in half rather than letting it flow from the top to the bottom of the page. No matter. It's done and I've moved on.

ice cream

Sometimes, and its been more than once, I've done a photo for what I call 'scrapbooking purposes' with certain embellishments in mind. There's been a flurry of icecream puffy ephemera lately that just begged to be used but I didn't have a photo for them. I've gone back after the photo was taken and done some pastel rainbow splats that worked with each of the squares as I felt the LO was missing them.

Doing a bit circle work on this one.
Who said you can't use pink and red together??!

sand & surf

I watched a Vicki Boutin live on Facebook to create this background. Its all about the layering of colours bit by bit. It takes a while to build the depth but the intensity of the colour and the translucency of the gelato drips is awesome.

sports day

A bit of fun with mixed media for the background. Notice the subtle stars?

run free

Having a blast with rainbows atm. Using Vicki Boutin Sunburst paper from the Let's Wander Collection. This one is 100% inspired by Vicki Parker on the Hip Kit Club blog, who in turn was inspired by Missy Whidden.

Can you spot where a sequin went rogue and disappeared from the sunburst? drat it.

Life is kinda like rain ...

The rainbow thing is everywhere atm so I thought I'd get on the bandwagon with this one.

Life is kinda like rain.
You always have two choices,
to sulk,
and sit inside,
OR run around in it
and have a blast.

totally rad

Followed the colour scheme of the cogs embellies with stitching in white. Could have (should have stitched in the same colour in the different segments. (too lazy)

not all who wander are lost

A trip up the West Coast found us stopping at Lock's Well. What a delight. Clean and pristine. Just don't go in the water, the rips are intense.
