Making Memories Vintage Findings is oh so nice.

When the girls and I had our hat pin construction afternoon, I made this pin for this paper with this LO in mind. And stuff me, it all came together pretty much how I thought it would. As I scrap spontaneously, this is really unusual. But rewarding too.

Happy New Year. Wishing everyone a fabulous 2010, full of possibilities and rich in experiences. Bring it on!!!
here's to the next 365 days.

he she him

After helping a damsel in Photoshop distress  ;-) I was lucky enough to acquire some very noice actions. This evening in the soft warm light I managed to get everyone outside for a quick photo or two. After a number of hours of fiddling, watching the action tutorial (again) and finally getting the hang of them I managed to end up with these.

looks like a little sun in his hand doesn't it!!

These actions are just awesome to age or vintage a photo, and I am sure that they can do so much more than that. More tweaking required.

oh the possibilities!!

Went to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks at the movies today. Funny but very loud. Worth it.

Hope to hit the pool tomorrow (Wednesday) with a disposable underwater camera in hand. Sean has just started putting his whole head underwater (yay) whenever he chooses to. This may get him going completely under. It did for Annie. If nothing else, at least I'll cool off. Fairly hot here they reckon.

year planner

just found this digi planner for 2010 via CK blog by Brenda Arnall
and I've put it here for reference for later on!!

http://brendaarnall.typepad.com/its_a_new_day/2009/11/get-with-the-plan-year-3.html

and pulling it all together.
http://brendaarnall.typepad.com/its_a_new_day/2009/11/putting-the-planner-together.html

looks like I've just set myself a project, even tho I already carry around a financial year diary in my handbag. Man, if I lost that thing, my life would be screwed. I used to commit everything to memory, but since things have got so busy with the photography side of things, I just had to get one. But I could use a prettier one than the ol Collins brand.

;-p

bokeh

After reading this blog and reading up on  this link http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/2009/12/share-your-holiday-bokeh/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+pioneerwoman-full-rss-feed+%28Pioneer+Woman+FULL+RSS+FEED%29  I thought I'd give it a whirl.

I have actually read about this before aaaaages ago and had forgotten all about it. So I'm glad that I found a reminder  ;-)

cute little models!!

Made a different sort of hat pin for this one. Just lovin' the strip of fibre (from Scrapworkz in Port Lincoln).

Mother's Day - Annie, Sean

I was on a bit of a roll last night. Mind you I did do a his and hers LO for their albums. They are both different but with similar photos.

The kids and I were in Lincoln today for the post Christmas specials.

I found myself a (would you believe it - I cant) a purple swag. That swag so had my name all over it. Annie took,  grew into,   acquired my swag since she was very little. I have had to ask her very kindly if I may borrow her swag if I needed one in the last few years. During this last year, we have all needed one on the same night on various occasions, so it was high time I found by own (again). Sean has what used to be Granny's and Kym has his own.

I have been looking very seriously at mountain bikes. Since I'm not riding horses atm, I need to be doing something active. Doing nothing is driving me to distraction. And funny ha ha, the one I looked at today is purple. Te he....  and that is not the reason why I like it. I haven't committed yet. Still a couple of shops to lurk look through.

And I have a totally kid free day tomorrow. My goodness, what will I do??????

gentle giant.

I am all up to date with photography commitments, processing and dispatch. Now for some me time, aka scrapping!! ahhhh. It felt good to scrap. I hope to get a few more done in the next few days before we head off for a bit.

Mind you, I still need to do the Treasurer's report and get the books audited before we leave. Oh, and the account intray, and the BAS. Time is far too short. But at least my days are chock full.

Had a fantastic Christmas. The kids loved their gifts from friends, family and Father Christmas. They'd get a kick up the bum if they didnt. lol. We had family here for lunch, and a social afternoon and evening out. It was just lovely and relaxing.

Today's effort....  ***edited to add the better pic of the LO***

I

coffin bay explorer

Darian and Carol Gale asked me to come out on a trip to shoot some promotional photography for their website and brochures. Coffin Bay Explorer

We canceled the first trip as the weather was against us. And I am so glad we did. The weather was perfect this time. The sea was glass, the water was crystal clear and the sunlight sparkled on the dolphins. I can thoroughly recommend this trip on the Coffin Bay Explorer. Esp families with kids. The dolphins were so relaxed and really inquisitive. I could have reached out and touched them with my fingers as we quietly idled with them.

Carol wanted some shots of the wildlife they see on most trips and some of the scenery. The bird life, the seals, the sea lion and especially of the dolphins.  I think I managed that OK. I wanted to capture some images that would be a little bit unexpected. IE of the ropes, with feet up, the anchor.

Part of the trip is at anchor with the dolphins just lazing around us while Darian shucked oysters fresh from the sea for our tasting.

I'm pretty sure they'll be pleased with the end result. I know I am.

oh christmas tree, oh christmas tree

Message from Father Christmas

Have your children look at this. It is a wonderful traditional Christmas message from the big guy in the red suit. Mums and Dads will need to go here first to pop in some info. Its really worth it. My kids were talking back to him and waved goodbye to him.

I would love to wish you all a very Merry and Safe Christmas.

Miss Z (the extra sneak peeks)

I've just had an email flick into my in box to give the thumbs up to show the couple of extra special pics from the other day.

Without any further ado.....

Aren't they just lovely. Many thanks to Nan and S for allowing me to post them here.

christmas lights

They say time flies when you're having fun. Well I can certainly testify to that. It has been absolutely whizzing past.

They also say, that you are only as busy as you make it. I have been making it really busy. And I love it.

- I took the kids into town to look at the Christmas lights last night. I have to say that town is certainly dark compared to how it used to be. I don't know if its apathy, or if Christmas has snuck up so fast, or quite what. But there's certainly not the amount of effort put into as it has been in past years.

I took in the tripod and wanted to catch some of the atmosphere by not using any flash. Mr and Mrs H very kindly let me come into their yard to get a bit closer to their awesome display of spirit.

Every night when he turns the lights on, he turns on a little motor which drives the back wheel of the bike. So Mr and Mrs Santa cycle for a few hours. And yes he has replaced a rear bald tyre at least once.

They also have this message up every year.

Their wonderful efforts into their displays is just awesome.

After spotting the Nicholl's car cruising the lights as well, I had a txt from Sarah to have a go at capturing the Nativity scene at the Lutheran church. I think it turned out OK.

- This morning I went on the Coffin Bay Explorer to catch the sights and shoot promotional photography for their website and brochures. I really really recommend this charter trip to families with kids. You get to see the dolphins up really close and personal in the pristine waters there. We had dolphins check us out and we watched their antics while the Explorer just idled in the water. They were totally relaxed and so inquisitive. I am working on processing that shoot tomorrow (Wed). Pics to post later.

- This evening I was invited by the Kapinnie community to shoot their district Harvest Cut out, Christmas drinks and an entry photo into a competition. The silos and the footy goals posts are rather iconic of this town, so they were the natural choice for background. People were asked to come in whatever uniform they have that represents their involvement in the community. We had CFS, Ambo, Cricket, Tennis, Netball and lots of other people there. I am guessing that there would have been 60 people all up in the big group shot.
Goooo Kapinnie!!!! was loudly yelled before a couple shots. So funny. What fantastic support in this area. Thanks very much to Sam for teeing this up. You are an ambassador for Kapinnie.

- We had visitors come over after tea for Christmas drinks.

All in all it has been a rather full day. Tomorrow is a lay day. Meaning a lay in bed for a while before getting up. Its going to be a filthy hot day so having a day inside in on the menu.

Stay cool

Lady Z.

She is such a little poppet. Thanks to her family for bringing her in to see me on Monday. It was a great shoot with Mum, Dad, the Grandparents and of course little Lady Z who was centre of attention.

I have asked permission to post 2 special photos, but until I hear back from the family, I'll just have to leave you in suspense. LOL

Until then I can show these ones.

big red fella...

...paid a visit to our district Christmas tree celebrations tonight.

Before Father Christmas arrived the kids sang him in thru the door. Sean decided to try the laid back casual way. LOL

I did wonder how the kids would go, esp Sean after a long warm afternoon at our area's harvest cutout and Christmas drinks.
I worry too much. He and Annie said their pleases and thank yous, and had no issue at all.

taking a moment...

... to play around on Photoshop for myself. I asked Annie to come with me for a quick drive to grab these pics. And yes, that is her bed hair. Gorgeous isn't it!!

netta girl

At last I have put my hatpin making skills to use. I tailored made this one to suit the colours of the LO. Bead found in 'Bead on Eyre'

can now reveal after publication in SBM Vol 12 No.6 pg 44

his version of netball

So loving templates at the moment. And these, oh so cute, pics of Sean at Annie's netball training.

The reason for 4 O'clock on the HS clock is that is the time training starts. I've used Tim Holtz game spinners for clock hands. And the PP is a lot more red than pink irl lol. Fairly simple, to keep the focus where it should be, on the pics and the story of them.

weekly wrap up.

Yesterday's pooppy(??) weather gave me some breathing room. The photo session for the charter boat business was postponed to next week and this morning's photo shoot was postponed due to illness. That's OK. That's the way it goes and both have re-booked.

This week ran to plan until yesterday. So after a early morning phone call I turned off the alarm clock and went back to sleep for a bit. I had a PJ morning with the kids before we headed off to swim lessons. And yep it was chilly when wet in that breeze. Sean spat it after a max of 10 mins, and Annie's bottom lip dropped about 40 mins into her lesson, but at least she stuck it out. He didn't. After a hot bath and hot lunch, we had a causal arvo before heading back to Coffins for one last time to visit Grandpa and Grandma. They headed off today (Friday). They and the kids had their Christmas gift giving last night.

Today was a sleep in for the kids after a late night last night for them. They had their last swim lessons today. Sean spat it again (little shit) and Annie had a ball.

When we came home I went out to hang out the wet towels and found this.

Gives new meaning to fishing line lol. Kym dries the fish before he smokes them, and so he took over the clothes line.

Not one to enjoy silence for too long, I asked the kids if they would like any friends to come over for a sleep over tonight. So as I type this at 12.45 am, Annie, Teagan, Ryan and Sean are all fast asleep. They have had so much fun.

A day of nothing planned for tomorrow. My first day like this for over a month according to my diary. Yikes. I think I will be bored by late morning. At least the kids will entertain me.

And yes, I have scrapped. I finally made my way over to the scrap table tonight after the babes hit the sack. After all the bustle of life, photography, processing, the in-tray, the monthly reconcile, and getting a head start on this month's books before we go away, I needed to scrap. I dont have a pic of it yet. Will do in the morning. And shit it felt good.  =-D

Have a great weekend.

hmmmm

Is anyone else having trouble leaving comments here. I have had one lovely lady mention it the other day and that bothers the hell out of me. Its supposed to be easy and straight forward and apparently its not.

You can let me know here (lol if you can) on Facebook, or email.

Cheers and thanks heaps.

tiff

fingers crossed.

***Edited to add. We have cancelled the shoot today. the weather is just too crap and the light is dull. We want the sunlight sparkling on those dolphins when they come to visit. So we are now planning a trip out early next week.***

I've been booked to go out on a boat charter tomorrow to photograph the highlights and scenery of the trip in and around Coffin Bay. I can only hope that the weather improves. I hear thunder rolling outside atm (12.05am).

ah well, if tomorrow turns out awful, there will always be the next day, or the next day, or the next day. Trust Thursday to be the crappiest day of the whole week gone and the week to come. lol.

The Family of C

I had the inaugural shoot with the new lens the other day. Man, am I one happy dancin' chick!!!!   Its friggin awesome. I have lots more scope without the need of changing lenses. And crisp pics. No more camera shake.

Having a very photogenic family made my job so easy.  I really loved your ideas. I'm always open to new ways of framing a shot. Thanks guys.  Enjoy your sneak peek.

Miss I and Master J

This was a bit of a challenging shoot. These two tin-lids are a bit camera shy but bubbles soon fixed that.
