tumby time 2009 - sean's

Sean's version of Tumby Time 2009. Lots of puffer sticker fish and bits. Its a bit cutesy but Sean likes it, and that's what counts.

Lots of onion bags for netting. And its another double double (last one for a while)
=-)

tracks and trains

I had a bit of a scrounge in Sandra's wallpaper stash and we found this little textured gem. Perfect colour. And yes, that really is a piece of track. And yes it is from a set of Sean's. But don't fret, most of the wheels from this train and its carriages from this particular plastic set have broken off, so the track isn't used anymore. Really truly!!

A bit of a back story with this IKEA train set. I live 8 hours away from the nearest IKEA which didn't accept telephone orders at all or online orders under a certain $$$ amount at that time. And they only had 1 of the 4 sets available. Alas, what is a girl to do. I vented my woe when I was involved with the EB scrapping forum.back then. One of the 'chooks' very very kindly offered to get all 4 sets from the IKEA near her home in Sydney and then post them over to me. I was stunned and grateful to say the least, that someone that I only knew very slightly online would offer their help. I emailed her the top pic to show her that the train and tracks were in good use.

christmas at black point 2008 (annie's)

It's official.

I am now exactly 2 years behind with my scrapping lol.

I've just quickly done a LO for Annie today of Xmas at Black Point which was back in 2008. Very plain and very unembellished. The main focus is the photos and the story that goes with them.

Now to do Sean's. I could do exactly the same, but I think I have another idea brewing for his set of photos.

Does it worry me that I'm behind with my scrapping timeline???

Nup. Not one bit. I will never run out of photos to scrap as I try to have a bunch processed and printed ready to go in my photobox or in my in works album. I usually have a few already matched up to papers so I can do the next one, (I scrap in date order) or jump ahead to another one in my in works album that grabs my fancy or an online challenge or whatever.

I hope everyone had a joyous Christmas full of family, friends, fun and laughter.

We did.

This is another of what I call a double double. 4 papers 12x12. Its the only way I can fit on everything that's important for the occasion.

Twas the night before Christmas...

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

summer wildflowers

Just had to get some shots of the kids in this patch of gorgeous wild flowers on the way into the pub for tea last night. I'll add one of Sean later as I'm about to head out and face the Christmas crowds in Lincoln.

dutton bay christmas lights

Janice, Sarah, the kids and I took a little trip to the extraordinary Christmas Display at the Church near Dutton Bay. The detail and the amount of work to construct all the displays and the 'magic cave' is astounding. 10 weeks. And all by a couple of elderly people who do it for the love it and for the children of the community. What huge hearts.

Its well worth the drive. For a donation ( I would strongly advised a folding note to pay for the power bill) you'll be toured around the display in a cart towed by a mower and then can wander in the cave (donation box in the cave). It comes alive from 9pm to 11pm each night until the end of December.

This is my fave shot of the night. Tripod, f13,, 3.2sec. ISO 100. 50mm focal length (my nifty fifty lens which I hardly ever use)

The Nativity is in the arched window of the Church (which is a converted private premises) and the cave is their shed that is chock a block of eye candy.  And I spotted the Nut Cracker.

And the full moon tonight was just amazing. We were driving at the time of its best show, but I did manage to catch it in one of the shots. :O) Not the greatest but it shows what time of year it is lol

christmas candles

Google Images you are my best friend!!!

I looked at both Vintage and Retro Christmas Images and decided that Retro just looked a bit tacky for the spirit of Christmas.

I had a bit of frustration with printing. I have an A3 printer and trying to be clever was my undoing. I wanted to feed thru A3 size tissue paper (adhered to A3 paper) to print a lot of images in one go. Believe me, to save you angst, print A4. The smaller paper supports the tissue paper just enough to get it thru the printer, whereas the A3  tissues size needs more support than being stuck down on just the edges.

I'm happy with the result, but next time, I'll chose lighter images. The darker, heavier ones are just too intense to see the details.

tutorial here

I used Baking Paper to wrap the candle to hold it and to add pressure for the image to adhere to the wax. And I used scrap tissue paper to wipe over the wax to polish it after heating. Worked beautifully.

Not to worry. There's always next year, birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day etc.

;o)

check list

Annie wrote herself a check list of things to pack for our 2008 Christmas trip to Black Point. I just had to catch her handwriting!!

The foliage is from artificial Poinsettia plants that I repurposed for this LO.

excitement +

Now this is a little bit ironic. Timing wise that is.

I'm scrapping Christmas photos at Christmas time.

I'm in the 2008 Festive season at the moment which is just fantastic as there is so many non scrappy embellies around that I've found. I picked up some beautiful foliage from Cheap As Chips that I can adapt for a page or project. I found some very cute little do dahs in Kmart that are perfect for a page. Ribbons galore, but I did refrain from them, some very noice label stickers that won't be going on any parcels. Fake Poinsettias whose petals look like leaves (I'm a leaf collector by the way lol)

This LO I finished last night before my trip to Lincoln today and finding all my bits, but the next LO will have some on it for sure!!

(photographed on a black board that ended up being just too fiddly to remove via PS, so the black border isn't really there in real life.)

The top of the clock is a really big button with a Maya Road Sheer Clock under it.

A couple of weeks ago Sandra, Janice, Mary-Anne, Trish and I got together for a bit of a catch up. We all needed to bring something scrappy for everyone to each create a LO. Well I'm afraid I couldn't quite get it all to work on one page, so I'm using the 'houses' from Maryanne and the black pearl strip from Janice on this one. Hope the girls don't mind :OP

night lights

I took the kids in for a quick squizzie at the Christmas lights in town the other night on the proviso of my being able to take a couple of long exposure pics.

LOL. Every time I released the shutter so it was open for 30 seconds a car would drive by. Without fail. The beauty of long exposure is most solid objects that move thru the frame tend to disappear, but not the headlights unfortunately.

Anyway it was fun. And the kids got to stay up later than normal  ;o)

old soul

A bit of Sandra influence in this one!!  :O)

journal says: people have said you have an 'old soul' and I'm inclined to agree.  16 december 2008

tumby time 2009

hiya.

This is the double LO I submitted for the Masters. The emphasis was to be placed on the photos and the journaling.

This ended being a double double, (4 pages of 12x12) so I wondered if I disqualified myself, as technically speaking, it's not really a double. But seeing other doubles entries that were more than 2 pages in the Masters issue, reassures me that I was still in the running, it just that it wasn't good enough. That's ok!! I'm in love with it and still proud of it, and the kids love finding all the bits on it. Its a bit like an eye spy really lol.

If its not obvious, the setting sun is the middle of the LO. I used hinged page protectors so it presented as one long detailed LO.

the details....

thank you

Now that Scrapbooking Memories Masters Mag is out, I can yell it out loud.

YAHOOOOOO. I GOT A HM

...for my beyond the page practical item. I developed a slow cooker recipe book. Rules state that I cant post it here until next month, but for a squizzie have a look on page 69.

You could have picked my jaw off the floor when I heard about it via FB. I was doing the 'happy dance', believe me!!!

I can show you the single LO that I submitted that needed to have 3 photos, one that's larger than 4x6, more than 10 words of journaling and a 'found object'. The floral metal charm in the centre of the Webster's bloomers is from my Grandmothers tabletop handbag holder. That's what the whole page colour theme stemmed around.

Journaling say: you two are so patient with me. we have been having a lot of photo shoots lately and you hardly ever get cross with me.

I LOVE Webster's Bloomers as soon as I saw them on a LO sooo many months ago. Funnily enough its the green ones that I use the most. lol. I also really got into fussy cutting for this one.

I'll post my double later on
:O)

the H man

boy oh boy. This little man sure had me on my toes. He's flat out and doesn't stop still for much more than 1.5 seconds, so my shutter finger had to be lightening fast too. And I sure had to be snappy to move the focus points where I wanted them.

But despite Speedy Gonzales best attempts to thwart me, I got him!!!!

why is it that little boys have the most lushest of lashes????..... sigh......

I reckon he lasted with the trains all of 30 seconds and then he was off again  ;O)  but that's all I needed!!

Christmas bokeh

I had a bit of play yesterday at home and at the Rambler Christmas Tree with Bokeh.

I'm quite happy with Annie's but not quite so with Sean's.

:O)

It's all fun tho.

Sean had quite a conversation with Father Christmas and Annie let him know what her secret wish is for this year. :O)

the family of J

I caught up with this family again late last week down in Coffin Bay. The weather wasn't all that favourable and it was getting chilly near the end of the shoot. The kids were absolute troopers and are such a credit to their parents. And its so awesome when the fellas are really keen to get shots done and suggest ideas. The shot of him and K in the water was all his and I found this angle with the reflection of the cloud colour in the water perfect.

Enjoy guys and thank you for having me.
