Rambler Christmas Tree 08

Extremely loosely based on sketch from the Color Room. Chippy Buttons are Making Memories.

Sean went from being so shy with Father Christmas the week before to being all over him the week after. :OP Funny little chap.

momentarily shy

can now reveal after publication in Scrapbook Creations

At last I've been able to dip in my Christmas ribbons that I found at Cheap As Chips last year.

Yeah, I know, I'm still in 2008. I scrap in chronological order. Its just my way  :) On the very odd occasion I scrap a pic that is a right now moment, and its kinda exhilarating to do it while the moment is fresh and the memory hasn't faded.

All I can say is thank goodness I have my blog to refer back to for all the details that I need for my LO's for those moments nearly 2 years ago. And I can see how much my photography has improved. I cringe at some of the shots now, but they are still important stories for my children to reflect back on. After all, that's why I scrap. Mostly for them and a bit for me :O)

But 2009 is just round the corner!!!!  (so is 2011 in real life lol)

spring in the air.....

.... means spray spray spray.

The local aerial spraying contractor (Crop Dusters for my OS visitors) have been super busy during the last few days with the lovely living weather.

We had one spray our crop of wheat which gave me the chance to catch one up close in action. I called up the pilot to let him know that I was in the area just so he knew what I was up to.

Now to get one down low by the canola crop  :)

boxhead

Journaling says.
The endless possibilitis of a cardboard box. Today was peek a boo through the handles of a nappy box.

The Ribbon is a Stampin Up on from Amy's ribbon share. The best way to get a bit of all the yum ones!!

Help please...

Tiff Firth Photography has a request of her clients. I am participating in a Photography Exhibition to be held locally and I would like to showcase any wall canvases or large prints that you may have had printed. If you are willing could you please contact me. Either via here, mobile, FB, home ph or email.

I would be most grateful.
thank you
Tiff Firth

his eyes mesmorise

I hoped to capture the symbolic 'eye' in the peacock feather so it related to the meaning of the LO which is about my son's amazing eyes

And oh my gosh, I used Glimmermist. I struggle with random Glimmering. Its just not me, but I remembered a LO done by Sandra that had a peacock feather, her Glimmering on that and just how effective it was. So with a bit a trepidation I sprayed. Just a little. And that was enough thank goodness.

Have a great weekend.

house of 4H's

boston island

I had the chance to head over to Boston Island last Sunday with the Camera Club. Definitely worth the trip.

Just wanted to show a couple photos of the day.

and our transport on the island.

We were ferried across by one of the Tuna Feeding 'Close Encounters' tourist vessels. (just to the left of the tractor). Peter Davis who owns the island was our very knowledgeable tour guide took us around in the tractor and trailers. So glad I took a little pillow to sit on.

skill for life

While I had the chance between processing one photo session and shooting the next, I finished off a LO I started last week. The photo is hot pink which didn't photograph very well tonight. Not to worry, 'tis done!!

the R family

Don't cha love spring??!!  It is such glorious soft light, warmer days (soon I hope) and flowers everywhere. I'm lucky enough to live on a farm and all our crops are flowering at the moment. I couldn't ask for a better backdrop.

the R family came out for a visit last Saturday for their Spring Photo Shoot.

Enjoy your sneak peek guys. It was such fun.

gym medal presentations

Nothing very exciting about this one. This is the first page of a 4 page LO. The rest of them have Annie's level requirements (3 of them) and the 3 certificates.

Have had a bonza couple of days. I had a family come out to the farm for their spring photo shoot. I'm working on them atm and I'm really happy with what I'm seeing.

I had a Camera Club trip out to Boston Island today. It was such an eye opener to what's been done and the future plans for out there. Photos to be looked at when I get a chance.

I have another family coming out for their spring photo shoot on Wednesday. Looking forward to that one!!!!

Camera Club Monday night week, and I need to get those shots ready for that. Then there's the Cummins Show sneaking up as well as the local Photography Exhibition. I do hope the local snappers rally and support this one to assist a Year 12 Art student do well with her subject requirements. If I've emailed you about this its because I know you can take a half decent shot and hoped that you would submit them for public viewing.

So I'm up to my eyeballs in photography and not scrapping for a while. sigh..... I wish I could balance the two better, but I do need to sleep at some stage during the night lol.

bomb photo shoot

Journaling says

Between flies, the sun making Annie’s eyes water and Sean tunneling up his nose, this Christmas shoot was very nearly a bomb. 30th November 2008.  Annie 6 years.  Sean 2.5 years.

farmer's gold

A sketch challenge set by Sue over at e2c. I turned the sketch anti clockwise to suit the orientation of the photos and salvaged *wink* a ribbon from one of Kym's shooting medals. Printing on the doily was frustrating, but patience and perseverance won.

Most of the sketch elements have been moved around a bit, but if you squint and hold your tongue the right way, they are all there.

slater's gums

headed out with shutter sister Laura last night to capture these ones. This area doesn't retain water very often or for very long and last night the skyline, the sunset, the colours and of course the company was first class.

netta girl

pretty dang proud of this girl.

significance

I love this one. It just came together. Thank goodness as Mr Mojo has been somewhat lacking of late....

Pretty darn proud of our footy and netty players today. Winning all 5 games that we were in is just huge. Very lucky as there were some very tight games.

today she is 8

At 3.10pm 8 years ago this young lady was born.

This was back in the dark ages before we went digital. All my film photos have long been scrapped. But I did borrow the School Library Digi Camera for the weekend to get our first family shots. This is one of them. Annie was born with hip displaysia otherwise known as clicky hips in her right side. She was in a hip brace for 10 weeks to correct this and it was off when she was 12 weeks old. (Made nappy changes a breeze)  :O)

Eight years later she has grown into a very polite, caring, considerate young lady.

I'm so very proud of my first born.

10 + 10 = 20 little tootsies.

I kept this one fairly simple and unadorned with a tiny touch of pink. This is Sean's favourite colour atm so I used a little bit to remember it by.

Miss S and the G man

I had some visitors come out to my farm yesterday afternoon for a photo shoot. We very nearly didn't have the shoot at all. It was really dull, grey and damp in the morning and the kid's Mum and I decided between us to cancel it. By lunchtime the sun broke thru and we re contacted again. So glad we did. The evening was perfect. The breeze dropped out, the golden hour of light was soft and beautiful. The kids had a ball and all I really did was to chase them around with the camera.

I'm still processing but I am excited by what I'm seeing and I just wanted to show one as a teaser, as the rest wont be ready for a bit
 ;o)

shabby chicks

The journaling is a bit hard to read on this one but its all about a girls night out scrapping back in Oct 2008. It was such a blast.
it reads :
Boy oh boy. Did I have some fun at the Shabby Chic  Shack scrap sleep over. We invaded the Lock Footy clubrooms for the  night.
The weather was just gross that day, hot north wind and dust. It would have been pretty bloody warm in the Footy club as the aircon wasnt working. It was still fairly toasty inside when Denise and I got there at 6pm.
Denise Easten came up with me. She is just a barrel of laughs. Every hour or so she would say, 'Rito, whats next'. I was flat out throwing ideas at her.
Her daughter knows Jane Pearce, so Denise and Jane hit it off straight away. Jane had her dymo clicking away all night.
Great to see Karen D at her creative best, once the headache disappeared. Cassandra S had her dymo busy clicking away all night on all her layouts too
Brigette Siebert is a powerhouse. Despite the shocking weather, she hosted a fundraising day for Breast Cancer and then looked after us that night. And being mid term in her pregnancy too. Thank you Brigette. I am in awe of your energy. (I bet she felt just great to just to sit and scrap since she hadn't the opportunity since January)
Love love love my new little remote control for the camera. Just worked a treat. (the group photo)
We had pizza tea. Yummy. Lots of the most bestest garlic bread I have ever tasted. I kept going back to it all night.
We all hopped into a car and did a trip down to the PUB. The girls pub that is, which is the Shabby Chic Shack. (LOL Karen). Denise thought we were actually going to the real pub. So had some retail therapy of course. Jane's hands where on the interior car roof as we yee -hawed our way to the pub
I was really pushing for a Dawn Buster. Jane cracked me up. Her definition was much different to mine. But alas, I drank too much wine and my 4am my eyes were shutting all by themselves. I very quietly snuck into my swag. Other than Brigette, who had the best reason to, I was the first one down and out. Im so soft lol. Believe me Denise let me have it next day. She outlasted all of us. Woke up, packed up, chatted for a bit while sucking down some ice coffee (surprise surprise). Left about 8.30a.
Hope the girls have another one. Not to be missed. 26.10.2008
Thanks to all the girls in the pics who gave me their ok to post this here. And there is a typo. It's Karen that know's Denise's daughter, not Jane. Thanks girls for correcting me. ;oD

she loves to read

This is Annie reading a couple of years ago. I'm blown away with what she's reading now. One of the books that came home was about Economics. And she could read it, and understood the guts of it. Wowsers.

All the Waters Run

When it rains, the creeks run. When the creeks run, the waterfalls run.

With permission from the landowner I went for a hike in the hills this morning. Complete with purple rain boots. ;o)

This creek has 3 levels of waterfalls. The first image in the top waterfall, the middle one is the middle photo and the bottom one is the biggie. It would have been absolutely thundering on Saturday. To put the size in context the waterfall is about as big as the tip of the roof-line of your house.

5

A dreary morning and a sunshine filled afternoon yesterday. And thank goodness the sun finally broke thru. Just in time for a 5th Birthday party. With over 20 children invited, being outside was a far better option. The kids had a ball with the puddles of water after the drenching we've had over the last few days.

This pic was a very familiar activity yesterday.

The cake was a combined Mum and Dad effort. Mum cooked the cake, Dad decorated it. I reckon there should be a section at our local show for Dad decortated cakes. (I know of a least 2 other closet cake artists out there).
Check out the detail. Headlights, Hazard lights, the air grilles, the guy in the cab, but I do love the tracks the best. And it was YUMMY.

Happy Birthday Mr C. You are very special with our family!!

Last image from the 90th Birthday shoot yesterday.

Heaps of classics today at the 5th Birthday Party. Just about to start processing that one. The cake was awesome.... keep tuned!!
