So this bonza bloke turns 13 today (officially at 6.42pm). We couldn't be more proud of the young man he's turning into. Happy Birthday my man. A teenager at last celebrating his 13th lap around the sun.

Daniel is a an African boy our school sponsors and each year the kids have a day to fundraise for his sponsorship. This particular year the kids were asked to dress up as something international. Story is in the journaling.

So with much excitement on his behalf, Sean has join Navy Cadets. He's been involved on the peripheral through Annie being in Cadets before she left for Adelaide, so he has a small idea of what's involved. 

So he has at least 3 camps coming up this year and lots of skills, marching drills, public events and fun to come.

He's never rated anything ever as a 10/10 as nothing is perfect, but as soon as he had his uniform on, he felt like he belonged. It was a big 10 from him.

I'm beyond thrilled to see him this happy.

The background of ship wheels was created with whipped spackle and a mask onto black cardstock. Sometimes its the simplest things make a great impact.

right now

The date of this 'right now' was back in November 2018. In time to come this will be a treasured piece with his handwriting and thoughts of what was important to him at the time. A little bit like a time capsule.

Playing around with watercolours and cutfiles.  The kids are more than happy to let me add their medals and awards to the their scrap pages as they know where to find them later in their lives and the story that goes with each one.

tumby bay 2019 so far...

Tumby Bay summer 2019 is producing the goods. We've kicked back several cogs and relaxing into Tumby Time. Our first few days were particularly relaxing. VacSwim stared last week of which Annie is working as an instructor and Sean has an afternoon lesson (not with Annie thank goodness). This week Family Mission has started and Sean's in the young teens group during the morning and VacSwim in the arvos. 

Next week is back to the relaxing, no commitments and just chillaxing time. Not to mention fishing, sand between the toes and skin warmed by the sun.

I've been cracking out a few LO's printed directly onto cardstock lately. Most of them have many photos on each LO so its just easier to print either in collage or arranged onto A4 cardstock. These two LO's are just the example of what I mean.

We are avid Mythbusters fans and they did a segment about Flatus that we thought it would be fun to do. So armed with personal recording devices (notepad and texta on a beaded necklace, we recorded our 24hours of flatus. 

Lots of fun with some very interesting results.

christmas 2018

With harvest being a bit tricky this year we've not finished prior to Christmas which is unusual for us. This year was to be a Firth Christmas as last year we spent it with my brother as it was our first Christmas since Dad passed away.

With partners and kids away on Christmas Day, we all celebrated Christmas on Boxing Day. We drove over on the actual Christmas Day to Adelaide in the heat and spent time with Sharon and Steven that evening. It was our Christmas Eve.

The next day was loud, busy, relaxing, noisy, family, hugs and lots of banter. And it was our Christmas Day. And it was perfect.

These guys just rocked it. I'm looking forward to next Christmas's coordinated wardrobe effort.

Harvest was calling so we hot footed it back home early next day. It was effing hot (Pt Aug was 46) but thankfully the aircon in the car copped remarkably well and the engine didn't over heat, thank goodness. We were home in good time and out to the header he went. 

14 hours round trip driving for 36hr stop over in Adelaide. And it was all worth it.

tumby bay christmas pageant.

I took the Trishaw over the hill to Tumby to visit our sister Cycling Without Age chapter on Thursday for the Uringa Christmas lunch for the residents there to have a look at it and for them to have a chance to go out for a ride in it. It was awesome to see the enthusiasm there as I took out 10 passengers for a lap around the block and along the foreshore to feel the breeze and to smell the salt in the air. 

On Friday evening was the Tumby Christmas Pageant and I had two very excited +90 year olds in the front for their unique perspective of the parade.

We stopped often for their friends to trot out into the slow moving parade for them to hug, a handshake, a kiss on the cheek or a quick hello for the passengers. Kevin and Melva, were absolute gems. So excited, throwing out the lollies with abandon, blowing crazy amounts of bubbles and certainly didn't want to get out of the trishaw when we finished up. I loved their zest for life and thanked them for being the ambassadors in Tumby Bay for others to see what the trishaw is all about.

Nipper the Crab, the Tumby Bay mascot, danced alongside us with our 50 different versions of Jingle Bells playlist. She certainly did have twinkle toes.

I was excited to feel and see the impressive amount of interest from the Tumby Bay community for their upcoming trishaw, due late January.

Natasha Clark instigated the dream and has worked long and hard towards it becoming a reality. With help from Lisa Fitzgerald, who wrote the successful grant, and Julie Elliott who loves (??) the paperwork side of it so they ready to GO GO GO as soon as their trishaw lands in Tumby.

Merry Christmas Tumby Bay, and we here at Cummins, cant wait to see your 2019 Christmas present get on the road and the bike path right along the seafront.

movember 2018

Every now and then I set up a photo just because of the embellishments I have in my stash or have found recently. And Movember is just such a case. I found the big mo as a drink straw fun thing in Kmart recently, and I knew I had the tiny little mo's that I found in Cheap as Chip ages ago. The Moustache style guide is from the Movember website. And the green circle embellie mo was as and punched out from patterned paper. The little strip of mo's under the photo was the reverse side of a product company strip that's on 12x12 printed papers.

Layout lifted in essence from Stefanie Ried. I was able to use all sorts of bits and pieces. All I kept in mind was a basic colour scheme throughout which was mint, pale yellow, kraft, blue and black. The only leave from those colours was the round question mark paper clip, but I love it so I wanted to use it with the circular theme.
