So very grateful to have been able to supply photography our our local area for the new library cards of Cummins Community Library back in 2013. 

 

8 months and 8cm later

This is why I take photos. This is why I scrapbook to forever record the details of that moment the photo was taken. How else would I know that in 8 months there was an 8 cm growth spurt that these two photos pictorially puts the growth spurt of a teen boy in perspective.

I have flipped the bottom pic so Mr S is on the same side as the top pic to really show how much he's shot up recently. Needless to say Miss A is not terribly impressed by his new height status. 

bakerman

Instead of taking the time off during school holidays and kicking back, Mr S was on voluntary work experience at Five Loaves Bakery.  He loves to bake at home, and anything with dough rocks his socks.  

Work experience normally happens around here in year 10 and when they are 15 for school insurance purposes. Since Mr S isn't here next year as he's in college and he's already 15, we thought we'd get one in while he's still living at home as it was a lot easier logistically to get him to the 3.30am starts than it would have been in Adelaide.

To my surprise he loved the early starts and really got stuck into the jobs allotted to him. When he was home after his shift he stayed awake all day to his normal bedtime and was up at 2.45am to start work again. 

He impressed me and he still loves to bake.

Who doesn'tn love a large title layout. A pinch of chain stitching, a dash of Cocoa Vanilla Midnight with a serve of journaling. All done.

I totally swooned when I saw Anri's LO on insta and asked her if I may unashamedly scraplift it. Like Anri's I too used the Sunkissed collection from Cocoa Vanilla. The Monstera cut file was Paige Evan's from the Silhouette Design Store which has been sized down to suit A4 size.

Mothers Day 2013 was all about plating up the Tim Tams. I still have the large yellow envelope full of Mr S's little messages which goes will go in the album next to this LO.

Large photo format with minimal embellishing, letting the words and the photo shine.

 Cocoa Vanilla Daydream was the perfect collection to go with the photo. Lots of layers built up from the mixed media and the wreath that was fussy cut from the original paper to fit my a4. Extra blooms popped up on foam squares as is the title. A sprinkle of gold sequins and lots of white splatters.

 Journaling reads 'Dad would often stand behind any one of us and give us little devil horns.'

Sometimes simplicity is all it needs to get the story across. After all, scrapbooking is about recording the details of those memories before they are lost.

Gotta love those Vicki Boutin Color Kaleidoscope hearts that I've layered up in triplicate in a rainbow effect.

 

this is the shed that dad built

I keep all sorts of memorabilia for the sake of scrapbooking. I think being a scrapper encourages hoarding. I kept the booklet the kids made to thank K for building a large garden shed at school to house the outside play equipment.

port pirie gymnastics

 Back in the day (2013) Mr S was pretty handy at Gymnastics. It didn't come easy and for him to get to the Pirie Regionals required many hours of extra training. It was so gratifying for him to see reward for his determination and practise by coming home with the only medal for our gym club at that comp.

This is one of my all time fave pics of my kids. The pastel rainbow was a perfect fit for this layout.

Sometimes when's its a significant photo or event I do a his and hers layout for their respective albums. This is hers.

2021 one little word - hope

My one little word for 2021 is Hope. It'll have a different meaning for everyone. I'm an optimist and I always live in hope for a better tomorrow.

 

christmas 2013

When the shops start stocking Christmas bits and pieces each year, I take a good look at what I could use for scrapbooking purposes. I'll often collect items immediately after Christmas when they are hugely discounted to use later on.  I bought a set of gift tags with an idea in mind and this is how they turned out as interactive layouts with photos and journaling inside each card. 

Hope you all had a great Christmas with loved ones, whether that was in real life or by virtual means, in this new covid aware environment.

Keeping it clean and simple. This LO is loosely inspired by Steffi Ried on the Paige Evans design team. Steffi had larger layered balls as baubles, whereas I've downsized them and used them to imitate balloons.
