family photoshoot

Since having surgery on both shoulders and an elbow for bursars, I have retired from shooting family photography sessions. But I have kept two very special families on my books that I've seen every year since 2008. Every shoot has been a different theme, a different location and different ideas.

Without revealing who was in front of my lens over the weekend I can show a couple of photos of their fluff ball and reptile.

congratulations

I like to keep the certificates, the awards and anything else that's scrapbook worthy to document those moments of achievements. They are just as important as photos to tell a story.

chobe

This layout is pretty near and dear to me. I had a photographic trip to Africa in 2015 and lost my heart to the elephants both at the Victoria Falls Elephant hide and especially in Chobe.  The Chobe River is a must do water safari, and I highly recommend you take the Pangolin flat bottom water craft that are set up for photography. They can get you quietly and much closer to the wildlife than the larger and more crowder boats.

southern eyre team penners

Took a little time out yesterday early evening and headed to the Southern Eyre Team Penners at the Cummins Show. They were having a twilight event and I thought about taking a few photos of the sun low in the sky with the dust being backlight with the action in the arena. And hoped the dust was headed away and not towards me.

All things went to plan and it was just as I hoped.

spidey

Cutting out the spider web gave me a bit of angst until I got it right. Its on fine glitter cardstock from American Craft.  I ended up cutting it glitter side down on the cameo mat and along with a new blade, was the trick.  Can you see the spider. Not the one on the face painting, the other one.   ðŸ•·ðŸ•¸

black point christmas 2011

Now and then, when the photo warrants it, I do a his and her version for the kids seperate albums, so they each had a record of the occasion.

This photo of the Firth clan is just such a case.  I usually let the kids decide which one goes in their album.  Works for me.

And its even more special now as we lost Nana a few months ago.  This is the last photo that was taken with all of us in the one photo.  So very special now.

photo at port lincoln airport

My image of the hands holding the root ball of wheat is showcasing at the Port Lincoln Airport at the moment. The photo panel depicts the seasons of the year and my image is winter.

celebrate

For me, scrapbooking is not only scrapping the photos, but other achievements too. I've kept everything the kids have collected on their way through life to record the memory of it. Including  certificates, merits and awards.

all that awesome in one guy

I have many favourite LO's from #wwww2017 but this one tops the list.

I found the bamboo journal circles in Kmart and dreamt that night how they would work on a layout. It's really awesome when something turns out just liked I hoped it would.

#wwww2017

Every year a bunch of scrappy girls gather in Wudinna for our wwww weekend. Our Wild Womens Weekend in Wudinna.

Its so casual and sooooon much fun. We were catered by Alicia's, and oh my goodness me, were we looked after ever so well!  I'd say without doubt we ate way better than we did at a recent bells and whistles retreat at a 4* hotel recently.

Creativity poured and I scrapped my heart out. Pretty sure having wine at hand helped with that too.

Belly laughs were a'plenty and rich memories were made. Of course I had the camera out to shoot a bit for scrapping it all later.

Memorable bits were Annette's VIPoo, Amy's Dick (ask her), Mel's sexylicious bubba belly, Jelly Ellie, Marilyn's chopped liver and the centre of the universe or in the middle of nowhere. Who can't forget Jane and her Crows, Denise's playing with 'that' paint with 'that' photo, Ronnie's every so pretty LO's, Michelle's borrowing yet another piece of black cardstock and Rachel just being there for the one day and evening but she made it.

Packed and ready to head north.

More than half of Michelle's grocery bill for her wwww was lollies. The freckles went first.

Plenty of inspo in those bottles

 what our #wwww2017 looked like.

black point christmas

The whole Firth gang were together at Black Point for Christmas back in 2011. The water pistol fight across the Christmas table certainly was a highlight.

awesome

This one was so easy to do. A large photo with a little white space to utilise. I pulled apart a Heidi Swapp clustered banner and used pieces of it, along with Color Shine splats and the little navy stars from a Martha Stewart border punch. Strategically placed typing and the job is done.

summer 2017

I'm seriously in love with the monstera leaves in the Oasis range from CratePaper, especially the gold ones. I found a cut file of them and used green vellum for the lighter green ones here.  Add some gold metallic threads to soften the feel a little and lots of water colouring with the background, and it was done.

I love this photo of us last summer just been kooky and having fun. Keeping it real.

family

I love this one. I love the fun we had with the camera (I started the bird business and the kids quickly got on board), I love the setting, I love the sentiment, I lurve the cut file and I love how the gentle watercolour background didn't overpower the layout.

This is my fambam and I love them fiercely.

the older we get ...

I had some fun with water colouring the background before using the floral print cut file. Very simple but very effective.

hello mint tin booklet

Quite some time ago, I think about 12 years ago, I altered a mint tin and made a little photo booklet which slipped inside of it as a gift.  With Miss A going to collage next year, I wanted her to have a little memory keepsake of home.

All I asked of her was to go through my drawer of offcuts scrap paper and choose one she liked. I didn't tell her why or give any hint of what for.  I should have known she'd choose book paper. This one is from Jenni Bowlin Studio.

Miss A isn't into pink very much but a little hint is ok, so with that in mind I chose the ribbon and selected kraft card as the other coordinated colour on the mint tin.

The gold heart on the tin lent itself to how I was to embellish the little booklet which is chock full of photos with a little Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink gently rubbed on the edges with a sponge and simple gold ephemera.

The booklet has a Kraft front and back cover and I typed a little message to Miss A to introduce the booklet to her.

Miss A had a choice of a larger tag book that I made for her or this smaller booklet in a tin to take with her to collage and she chose the mint tin booklet, which I'm really happy with. Its small enough to pop in her bag/handbag/whatever and the the mint tin will protect it.

Which means that Mr S was more than glad to have the tag album I made for him to remember Miss A by when she's away at collage.

Win win.

hello booklet of memories

At the recent escape2create retreat the lovely Raquel Bowman taught a couple of classes. This one is a little Crate Paper tag booklet full of photos. My booklet is about twice as full as the one Raquel demonstrated and I need the next size ring up for it.

My idea was to fill it with photos from a recent family photoshoot on our front lawn and give it to Miss A to take with her to collage next year as a little keepsake.  So I put in a LOT of photos as I just couldn't eliminate any.

Raquel's kit came with puffy stickers and I used every single last one of them as well as sticker sentiments. They're all in the booklet too. I had very little of the kit left by the time I was done.
