adelaide weekend getaway

After canning the idea of taking the family to Ningaloo Reef to dive with the Whale Sharks as the kids weren't very keen, I decided to take the Fambam to Adelaide for a weekend getaway. It came about as I had a specialist post op appt today regarding my elbow and the Crows were to play on Saturday night. When we go to town we normally land in with family and the kids have never experienced hotel accommodation (other than Annie on her China trip), so I lashed out and we stayed at the Grand Chancellor on Currie St.  The only place I could find that would sleep four in one room. Everywhere else I looked at only slept 3.

So with a list of to do's to get through, and it had a lot to do with getting Miss A (and us) used to public transport for when she goes to college, we had an awesome weekend away. We are all puffed out when we came home tonight.

five

I am sooooo lovin' this LO. The gold paint background has a sublime shimmer and the subtle stars made with Whipped Spackle are so subtle. I think I'll be printing more often onto vellum for journal strips.   Did I mention I love this LO???

Inspired by Wilna Furstenbert Art2Heart class.

mike

I used a white spray paint to turn the frames to a neutral colour for this LO. And I found a cute little feather roller stamp a little while ago which I knew would be perfect for any bird LO's that would happen after the kids got their budgies for Christmas. And I also came across the perfect shade of fine orange glitter (called Carrot) in the $2 shop. Gotta love that.

tumby holidays 2011

Summer holidays are a visual feast for the camera. I like to record something for each kidlid for each day as a visual diary. Yes, that is Annie's guinea pig, Max on the beach. He loved it. He always came on holidays to Tumby with us.

I've adapted a 9 template to make a 12 template and used it as the basis for a double LO. The pictures have jogged Annie's memory of what she did back in 2011.  I love memory keeping.

peace

Resorted to faux stitching for this title as the other one like this just did my head in and killed my mojo. So much quicker this way ;)   Used a gift card for the journaling and vellum cut files for part of the title embellishing.

ouchies

Look away now if you're squeamish. Kym and a hogget head-butted while the sheep made a dash for freedom away from the knife. Needless to say it did get to the coldroom...eventually.

adelaide crows

How awesome is it to meet the heroes of your dreams.

When Adelaide Crows played in the NAB cup in Port Lincoln and then our school was visited by a number of Crows players the next day.
Heaven on a stick for a young crow fan!

remember today

I'm so thrilled with this one.  A Wilna Art2Heart class. I don't normally like my handwriting but given that this was the last layer on the LO, it just had to done by hand. So I wrote in capitals as I think its looks neater as its more uniform.
Journaling says: I can't begin to tell you how much I love you. Its bigger than the world, its bigger than the biggest plus one. Its infinite. Wherever you go on this Earth, the door will always be open to return home. I (heart) you Sean. I always will.

I am content

Wilna Furstenberg inspired LO from her art2heart class. I love this one.

ho ho ho

I've often sourced Christmas decorations for future Christmas layouts even if I'm not yet scrapping them. I will get to them eventually.  I keep all my Christmas embellies in a bag so I know where they all are when the time comes for the layouts to be done. Easy to find, easy to use and easy to store. I've used a metallic christmas ribbon that came from a gift, a christmas tree decoration (Father Christmas) and the christmas gift card.  Boom. All done.

rambler christmas tree

So soft and subtle with this one. Star mask, whipped spackle, glitter, colour mists, and glittery enamel dots used in conjunction with saved Christmas decorations.

peace

The gold stitching on the title word gave me so much angst. I used 4 strands of gold metallic thread which were a nightmare to work with. Continually knotting or shredding the strands. I put the whole thing down for nearly 2 weeks because it pissed me off that much. I didn't any scrapping done in that time because when I walked past my scrap desk to my office desk I'd see the title and really didn't want to face it. And then I had my elbow op so I couldn't pick it up for a bit. Finally it got the better of me and I just had to finish that little sucker. Needless to say I love the look, just not the process.

happiness and new suprises

Previous post was a his LO. This one is for her album.

I'm normally a chronological scrapper so I can pop the LO's straight into the respective albums for the kids. Lately I've been scrapping all over the shop, from where I'm up to in date order (2010 atm) to jumping ahead to 2016. Whilst I've really loved recording the memory while its so fresh, its not been so great with me putting the LO's into the albums. I resorted to placing them into a box with the thought that I'll get around to it later.

Later was today. My scrapping space is tiny. I have a desk in my office with my scrappy gear in tubs as I have no other way to store anything unless I stack tubs against small wall space. I was forever moving that box from one spot to another as it was always in my way and in the wrong spot.

I counted 30 layouts that I date ordered and sorted into albums today. I have one album that is for the LO's done out of date order from the rest of the kids albums. As I come to that date then I grab the LO from out of date album and pop it into the correct one for the kids. That's the only was I can get my head around scrapping out of sequence.

Now to organise myself and get a bunch of pics printed. I've been printing a little more at home and I'm finding I'm starting to create a digi page more often. I still print it on cardstock for that linen texture as I do love that look.

I need to sit at the laptop and really smash out some pics ready to print, either here at home or at a photo lab. The lack of pics ready to go for scrapping is frustrating me atm.
