spring sunset over Kapinnie lakes

I think this has become my favourite spot. Besides only being 10 mins from home, it faces west. Perfect for sunsets reflected in the lake. And I can get on the other side of it for sunrise. Sweet. This is the same spot that I photographed that big storm front blowing in!!!

Laura and I headed out this evening while our men had a bushie with the kids, marshmellows and glowsticks. I hope the blokes shared them with the kids ;op

G's spring shoot

Wednesday was the perfect evening for G's spring shoot. The sun was sweet and the temperature was mild.

Perfect.

What a beautiful woman.

yeeeeehaaaarrrrrr!!

Annie and I headed out for a quick 15 minute shoot last night so I could try out a spot and check the angle of the sun for sun flares before a client photo shoot last night. Except for the hat, this is what she wore yesterday. The hat topped it off perfectly.

The light blue is from the Basic Grey Dawson Range (thanks Meredith for the heads up on that one ;o)  ), Basic Grey Wassail (the red banner and flag) and the blue is another piece from my scrap stash. I'm not even sure if that's BG.
Also used are Webster's Pages Bloomers,  Tattered Angel's Patina Glimmermist

Just the way it should be!!

page 3

In the last Scrapbook Creations and Creating Keepsakes, you may have seen a LO featuring Annie advertising Teresa Collins products for Scrap Therapy.

I can't tell you just how excited she was, and me too for that matter, when she saw the BIG full page layout.

In fact she took the CK magazine to school for her morning talk

How cool is that.

So of course I had to get a picture of Annie showing her LO in the mag.

:O)

s'mores

My first attempt at making s'mores. I'll use melted chocolate instead of the chocolate drops next time. Tis delish. I hope to have a few authentic ones early next year  ;O)

smile - you're on candid camera (tiff's)

Basic Grey has been announced as Scrap Therapy's Man of the Month.

I must admit I hadn't visited the Basic Grey ranges for quite some time. To me after the release of Two Scoops,  Basic Grey went off the rails for a while. What they were producing was so blahhhhh. A few other ranges were starting to mimic the older way of BG that appealed to me so I went to them for my supplies.

In so saying, when I selected my BG goodies to play with, I actually did go back to some of the older releases. BUT, some of the newer ones are catching my eye.

cummins 100th show 2011

What a cracker day for the local show. The weather was perfect!!!!!!!!!!!  There was lots to do for the masses of people there. And the crowd numbers were way up. In fact I don't think I've seen it better. This is in despite of the Team Penning 2 day comp was cancelled due to treacherous conditions underfoot. If they had been there, the size of the crowd would have been amazing.

The committee has worked hard for months and months to get the 100th show to be a special one. Extra rides (thanks Stacey and Emily for taking Sean with you!!), heaps of  'ye old day' activities, (blade shearing, bag lumping and bag sewing), old vintage cars, the old tractors were pretty cool. Sean had a ride in the CFS truck on the oval during the Grand Parade. He's a bit of a show pony I think!!

He also had his face painted

and went home not long after that as his asthma (which has been steadily building over the last couple of days) didn't respond the the ventalin in my hand bag.

I stewarded for the Junior Photography and helped out the Senior Photography. I put a few shots in and I did come away with the Champion Photo. I was pretty chuffed with that.

Laura had the honours for the digital section, and I came runner up by a point. She so deserved it. Her work is nothing short of breath taking.

Annie collected Sean's certificate and prize for the most points in the Cereals and Fodder Section. He was home on the nebulizer by this time.

Annie really got into the wrestling show that was on during the day. According to her, that was her favourite thing.

All in all, it was the best show Cummins has put on. It should be nominated as the 'Community Event in 2011' during next year's local council Australia Day awards. The committee surely deserve it.

lipson cove.

Laura and I headed to Lipson Cove at low tide last weekend to shoot the last remains of the old jetty used during the copper mining era.

We also went up thru the hills between Tumby and Lipson scouting for spots for later. I am amazed at how much sub division is going on, and how 'populated' the area was. My trusty CFS map book was only updated 5 years ago and already there are roads from this Lipson area that are not marked on the map. Time does indeed march on.

kapinnie lake storm

While I had a fisheye lens on lend from Ann, we had this amazing, threatening and damn windy weather front blow in.  I knew it was coming (BOM radar) so I headed out to the lake country only 10 mins from where I live.

This is what bore down on me while I was standing in the lake in my purple rain boots, purple beanie and waterproof jacket. It was wild, windy and just bloody fantastic to be out in it!!!

Impressive isn't it.

he's one very proud DAD

Scrapped for Scrap Therapy. Man of the Month is Tim Holtz!!!

I started this LO at the Retreat and finished it last night. I had put it away so I could run it thru the printer for journaling, but when I found the KaiserCraft Grunge Stamps, and using Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink, (be aware that I've linked the refill, not the stamp pad so you have an idea of colour) I didn't need to journal at all.

new season wheat

Had a bit of fun with a fish eye lens that a dear friend very kindly lent to me for a few days.

These are some shots of our new season wheat, just to keep 'the farmer man of the house' happy. :O)

sheoak .... continued

Following on from the earlier post of the Sheoak shoot, these are the last of the images I'll pop up here. While I was up on the hill, the farmer came across on his motorbike while he was shifting sheep. We had a bit of a yarn about the view and I have his blessings to come back again.

happy :O)

LO number 6 from the Retreat. I can't reveal the other 3 as they will be shown once Scrap Therapy's October MAN of the Month is announced this Friday night. Stay tuned.

I love the country feel of this one that the green gingham and the tiny floral papers give. The bow is constructed from Green Tara's Cobweb. It's gorgeous stuff that has a bit of body so it can hold it's shape.

there's nothing in this world....

Layout no. 5 from the Retreat. I have no qualms about putting blooms on a boy's page. In fact I probably do it more often than not. These ones are made from scratch and I used a Martha Stewart Stamp and Punch Leaf combination tool.

We had one of Kym's sisters and her two daughters visit for the late afternoon and for tea. It was wonderful to catch up, reconnect and bring out the Scrabble board. Whenever we catch up with Sharon, the Scrabble tournament resumes. To me it's for fun, for Kym it's about getting away with imaginative words, and for Sharon it's about getting the big word scores. It's always over a bottle of wine (usually more than the one) and it's great to have quality time with a barrel of laughs.

Annie's heading back to Adelaide with them during the week to spend time with her two other cousins that are her age and hang out in the big smoke. She's flying back on her own on Saturday. She feels so very grown up about this fact. There's lots of paperwork for this to happen, but what a wonderful chance for her to have special time with her extended family without Mum and Dad around. Very empowering!!

Lovely day at the Yallunda Flat show today as well. Perfect weather and lots to see.

smile (annie)

Layout number 4 from the Retreat.

On occasion I do a his and hers LO of the same photos. And on the rare occasion, another one for me.  This is one for Annie's album.

I don't especially like this photo of me (I look so tired), but that's not important in the long run. To me, being in the photo with the kids is much more significant. They won't care about the tired eyes, but (hopefully) be glad to see a shot of them with their Mum and Dad all together.

sheoak

This is a spot that I've driven past for the last 30 years and not seen at all until Laura Smith pointed it out recently. You see so many possibilities when looking at life and what's around you with the camera in mind. With many thanks to you Laura. xx

fireworks

This is what I saw from behind the camera tonight.

Whenever I see fireworks I always think of the Katy Perry's song Firework. The words resonate with me.
