I took the kids and a friend of Annie's out for our first day of orienteering today. Laura and her little boy invited us along to join in the fun.
It was a beautiful mild winters day, with sunshine and the odd cloud.
Being our first time, we choose to do the ribbon course, which really isn't orienteering at all. We had visual clues to follow which was a really great way to get the kids excited and wanting to race ahead
When you get to each station, the card needs to be punched with the specially marked punch for that stop. And then the kids raced off again for the next one.
We didn't get lost, didn't need to blow the whistle and didn't need to leave a trail of bread crumbs.
We are all keen to get to the one after next (we are away for the one at Wanna in a fortnight).
Such a delightful way to spend a Sunday.
