tumby - day 11

This morning's alarm clock was delayed until 9am to give the kids a chance to catch up from last night's  Jimmie Barnes concert and the late night.

So  by 9.45 the kids were at their last day of Family Mission. I headed out to the Sandbar on the low tide of just .10 of a metre. This meant a lot of the sandbar was out of water and looking rather lovely. I wanted to photograph it from a different angle, so I headed out to the far side and shot the Sandbar looking back to Tumby and the shacks on Elfrieda Drive.

I got back in time to whiz down the street to pick up some fresh bread rolls for lunch and picked up the kids from the Mission Bus. Just as well they weren't on their scooters today as their hands were full of the craft things made during the week.

Lunch. Chill. Quick visit to the Library before heading to VacSwim. Today was the last day for that too. Sean passed his level 2 and Annie her level 5.

We came back here for the kids to shower off and change before we headed over to a friend's home on the marina where the kids dropped nets for Blue Swimmer Crabs. They ended up with a surprising 2 for the fridge. It was a very leisurely afternoon watching the kids have fun.

I checked on my emails and found that I had won a Qantas $1000 voucher courtesy of Canon!!!! Mega Wahooooo. And awesome timing. Kym and I are in the throes of planning to take the kids to New Zealand in the 2013 snow skiing season and the voucher will be perfect for that.

Calamari tea with Kym's catch from this morning while the kids were at Mission. I headed out to see if there was any sunset potential  Since we've been here there has been very little cloud in the sky to fire up for sunrise or sunset. Tonight was a gentle sunset.

tumby - day 10

Hump day of our stay here.

Bacon and egg breakfast with Sharon and Bridg before farewelling them on their way back home. The kids still got to Mission on time and I caught up on sleep as I had a crap sleep the night before.

VacSwim in the arvo, a quick shower and change and off to the Red Hot Summer Concert featuring Jimmy Barnes, Dragon, Ian Moss and Chocolate Starfish. We bought tickets with the Modra family ages ago and it was bloody brilliant to have all the kids there too. How cool is it to say that our kids' first rock concert was Jimmy Barnes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I left the camera home and just used the iPhone for a few shots.

I took in a few big bottles of Bubbles for the kids to blow, and a jumbo size container of Glow sticks for after dark fun. And so we could see where our kids were.

The organisers could make an absolute killing if they sold bubbles and glow sticks as part of the merchandise as we were the only ones with bubbles and only a few had glow sticks. Food for thought.

The kids rated tonight as a 9/10. I love that they dug it as much as us 'big' kids.

tumby - day 9

The kids had a much needed sleepin this morning. I didn't set the alarm clock for Mission. I wanted them to wake up when they were ready. By 8.15am they were both out of bed and moving around. I dropped them off to Mission as the bus had well and truly come and gone (I did txt the driver to not to wait for us). And we were still on  time for Mission  :-)

We have visitors staying this afternoon and tonight so I picked up a few supplies from the shop, came back to the Apartment, blogged, tidied up, processed a few shots for Scrapping and it was time to pick up the kids from the bus.

I ride my bike and carry to bike helmets and two scooters down to the Bus Stop. Its a bit awkward but I manage. Lunch back here, a bit of chill time, then we are off to the beach for Vacswim.

By the time we back from that, Sharon and Bridget were here. We all had a leisurely time in the shade on our lawn as the kids had had enough of the beach today.

On the way to dinner we stopped to feed the seagulls and pelicans. No wasted bread here.

Sean and Kym rode their bikes to the Seabreeze for tea while we girls walked in the lovely evening
and enjoyed a stretch of legs. Tea was delicious and I certainly needed that walk back.

Now it was serious game time. Whenever we see Sharon, its always Scrabble. And its so much fun. But tonight we went with Pictionary, Annie's Christmas present from Father Christmas. Sean, Kym and Bridge, vs Annie, Sharon and me. What a hoot. Sean is amazingly quick to guess the pics Kym draws. I think they must operate on the same wavelength lol. Annie is so on to it, that she had guessed a lot of our clues before Sharon or I had.  We won the game...... just. A lot of laughing to be had.

Game/Brain Food!

The kids got put to bed and we set in playing Bottoms with cards. We did get told to 'quieten down' by Annie a couple of times lol. Another late night with a lot of fun.

tumby bay - day 8

This morning started with a very early text on my phone  :(   , which happened to be on the bedside table so I would hear the alarm clock. After the txt tone sounded I just couldn't get back to sleep. So after the kids caught the bus to Mission and I brought their scooters back on my bike, I tried to have a quick nap to catch up.

I took a quick snap before heading out for the day of some of the holiday 'toys'.  Hence the need to bring  a trailer and vehicle load to Tumby a couple of days before we officially arrived.

11am saw me sitting out on the deck at The Ritz Cafe with Christina enjoying the morning view of the sea. The colour of the water was so lovely as it had been calm for over a day and the water was sooooo clean.

We have Kym's sister Sharon and her daughter Brig coming to stay with us tomorrow night, so I headed back home to collect swags, pick up the mail and catch up with the 'Gal Pals'. Love them always. xxx

The 5 Loaves Bakery has the most awesome Vanilla Slices (aka Snot Blocks) and when ever she can, Trish likes to remind Lou about them.   :)

Kym had picked up the kids from the Mission Bus, took them to VacSwim and then to the Sandcastle Comp mid afternoon. Unfortunately by then the breeze had sprung up and it wasn't that nice on the Beach. And as it was the leaders announced the incorrect time for the comp, so it was our kids and 1 other there for the announced time. The advertised time on the flyers was for an hour later, and it was just unpleasant to be there, so Kym brought the kids back to the Apartment before the advertised time.

So they chilled for a bit. When I arrived back, we had an early tea and headed out to the Excell Museum Open Night. We go each year and the kids still love it. Sean got really involved this year on the forge and anvil. He hammered out a little horse shoe as his personal souvenir. Lucky him.

The kids were in bed relatively early as we have a couple of larger nights coming up and they still have  Mission in the mornings and VacSwim in the arvos.

tumby - day 7

And the alarm clock woke us for the first time while on holidays. :(

The kids were really keen to get to Family Mission  Day 1 requires registration and giving permission for them to catch the bus back to the Caravan Park where I meet them with their scooters.

So while they were into their Crafts and Activities I slipped back in the sheets and had a cat nap. Then I got stuck into processing photos for me for scrapbooking. I nearly have all of 2010 done :-)

We had lunch and chilled out briefly before the kids went to Vacswim. Since the day was just so lovely and the water was so calm, we headed to the jetty with the Kyaks and the Waveboard. So much fun.

We spent ages there. The kids were very kind in being in the spots I asked them to be for a few photos.

What a beaut day topped off with spending a bit of time with Kathryn D on the lawns in the evening. Followed by a lovely sunset.

tumby - day 6

A relaxing Sunday morning. It will be our last one for this week. Family Mission starts tomorrow so therefore the alarm clock is set every morning for this week. Pancake breakfast was the request. Kym headed off shooting in Lincoln and I made a phone call to Brigette S to see what she and the kids where up to in Port Neil. 

On the way up there we found these on the highway. I love the ingenuity and the originality of them. Aren't they cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are next to this very funky letter box. The locals will recognise this one.

Once Brigette and I connected we headed to Back Beach with the kids, the boogie boards and the wave board. Nita and her daughter met us there. The Easterly blew in some really good waves for a bit of board action. Lots of fun. (photos posted with permission)

The big Wipeout of one of the boys!!!

There's no photos of Sean. He was dumped off his board early on and decided to sit it out on the beach.  The kids were weary from their James Bond movie night so by the time we got home some quiet time and a sleep were on the cards.

I wanted to get Sean back on the board so late afternoon saw us on the beach in Tumby. Sean on the board, me with the GoPro in hand to encourage him and make it fun. He was much happier with the board when we finished with it, so then we had a bit of fun with the GoPro video and stills. I love this one. 

Snitzel tea here in the apartment and early bed so the kids are rested before Mission tomorrow.
