4 is the sum of us

Got my teeth stuck into this LO last night at Scrapworkz Thursday night scrap night. Scrapped for Scrap Therapy's Mixed MAN(ufacturer) of the Month. I chose to mix it with Tim Holtz with Pink Paiselee's House of Three Daily Junque. Oh I adore the bright colours. So me.

Ho3 products used are Map, Junque, News, Numbers.

Very loosely based on a PageMaps sketch with the colour palette sourced from The Color Room.

family

Created for Scrap Therapy. Man of the Month is Tim Holtz. How cool!!  Products used are Tim Holtz alpha parts. Prima Millenery Collection Dud

Journaling says 'I've always wanted to get a photo like this as our family portrait. Just to be different.  13.7.2009

I've had a few projects on the go that I'm working my way thru. I've been to the School Library during a lunch hour to shoot wide angle interior shots for them with students in the images. They will go on display on the flat screen above the desk. Be sure to check them out. ;o)

I've been visiting a number of families for their family photography sessions. They are always a blast. I love the spontaneousness of it all, and the ideas for this shot or that shot that comes from the kids blows me away. Tonight was a perfect example of that. That was the best fun I've had for a while. Apparently they were reluctant before I arrived, then it was excitement +.  All four boys (two of the teens) high fived me when we finished and told me I was cool. Man, I am rapt. That's about the best compliment I could ask for.

I've been scrapping away for a magazine, so I can't reveal them for a while (sigh), as well for Scrap Therapy. I also write photography tutorials in the Shutter Therapy thread at Scrap Therapy as well. That's all about learning the basics of your camera, setting it up to shoot the challenge I set and I offer to critique the shots. (I put on my SA Camera Club Judge Hat for that lol) And the further challenge of 'shoot it, scrap it' each month. Have a look at the tutes. I'll help you get off Auto. ;OD

And I am so looking forward to the mini retreat at Trinity coming up soon. BRING IT ON!!

Plus getting photos ready for the Cummins Show. I left that to last minute last year and I regret that. I ran out of time to get my scrap pages organised then. I aim to do both this year.

So that's a tiney tiny snapshot of my goings ons atm.
:O)

giving myself permission....

I had to take some photos of myself today for some documents, and while I had the camera and tripod set up, I starting mucking around.

Sometimes you just got to take the light hearted approach and pull the piss out of yourself. And to give yourself permission to accept yourself for yourself, warts and all. (no I don't actually have any lol).

This is what Annie and I saw when we were coming home from her birthday party at the Leisure Centre on Sunday.

This is home and it's where our heart is.

This is home. Storm cloud rolling in.

Taken with Camera Club's 'Patterns in Nature' in mind.

This is the spot that's on one of the Rain Moth's wings. In real life, its about the size of the tip of a pen lid.

9 years ago @ 3.15pm....

....this little lady arrived in the world.

Some 2 weeks early and boy was I thankful for that. That very morning I distinctly remember saying to a friend, 'boy, I hope it's soon, I don't think I can stretch anymore.' And that very afternoon she was here.

Happy Birthday sweet thing. You stole my heart with your very first breath.

Mum.

this little piggy

I have a foot fetish. Not for adult's feet. They are nothing short of bloody ugly. But children's feet make me go all mushy. Especially newborns and toddlers. Before the arch of the foot has developed and before the feet become long.

This LO is created for Scrap Therapy's MAN(ufacturer) of the Month,  Tim Holtz, with a Pink Paislee Twist.

Also thrown into the mix is Fancy Pants My Family Uncle paper.

I've used textures on the photo so give it a slightly crumpled paper look to it.

my family portrait

I've had this one under wraps for a week or so to reveal when the time was right. I've used Pink Paislee-House of  Three- Daily Junque-Tickets in conjunction with Tim Holtz for the MAN(ufacturer's) of the Month at Scrap Therapy.

This LO is based on a crumpled brown lunch bag.

When I took this shot Annie snuck in her other hand and popped it on top. The little rotter. :O). I don't really have 3 kids.  ;O)

dad card

It's my Dad's birthday next week and since I was in the card making mode, I made a card for him too. It's so easy to make a masculine card with Tim Holtz products. Tim is the MAN(ufacturer) of the Month at Scrap Therapy.

Getting a handmde card from me should just about knock his socks off  :O)

super excited shutter bug!!

With Kym and Sean heading up to Broken Hill tomorrow (Thursday) and Annie's birthday happening while they are away, we had an early gift to give to her.

She's been really interested in my camera over the last few months and she borrowed my old dinosaur Powershot for a school excursion not that long ago.

I thought it was time for her to have her own, seeing that's she so keen about the whole thing. So the Fuji 200 was a perfect choice for her. Fairly basic with room for her to develop some skills if she wants to, compact but reasonably tough. And straightforward buttons without being too complex.

Kym gave it a test run on our Lord Howe Island trip and caught these images of his fishing charter trip. (scroll down a bit)  So it's a little rippa of a camera.

She's very excited by the whole idea. Can you tell lol.

come fly with me, come fly away....(final instalment)

So what have I been up to????  (Picture a chook running around with it's head cut off and that's me.)

There's been a lot of shutter action lately. Mostly for me tho, with the odd family shoot added into the mix. I've photographed all but one of the 50 odd gymnasts for the Gym Club fundraising drive. Kindergym kids next week. And that's proving to be very successful, which is so wonderful for the club. I've been out and about with Laura shooting landscapes. I've had a weekend away @ Arno Bay shooting and being taught how to shoot. My kids have been working with me for our family calendar for next year (Kindergarten fund raiser).  I've been so very lucky to be flown around our area for aerial photos last week. Prepping a talk to the Camera Club. Judging the yr 12 Snap Exhibition.

I've been scrapping away as well, with things to reveal during the month for Scrap Therapy's MAN(ufactuer) of the Month, Mr Holtz.  :O)

Running the office side of things for our businesses and having family time. I had 2 of the 3 Modra boys here for a stay while their parents went away on their '10th Anniversary Trip'. Kym was away most of the time while they were here so I felt like a single parent with a swag of kids. They are wonderful boys and I don't believe we had one issue or moment of angst.

Annie's birthday this weekend and there's a bit of gathering for that. My birthday is coming up and I'm hoping for a get together at the Bakery next week (hint hint  ;op  )  Kym and Sean are heading up the the 'Hill' for a week so I need to get packing for that.

Just a snapshot into my mad life.  :OP

These are the final shots of the aerial trip from last week.

'The Homestead'

arno bay - sunday.

Denise, Margaret and I got up at the much more respectable time of 6am (still too damn early for a night owl lol) and with Anne, we hit the beach for sunrise. I had a vague idea in mind with the jetty, but I sort of had to adapt as I went as I wasn't sure exactly where the sun came up in context with the jetty.

The following are all in order of the sun coming up.

After the dramatic skies of the last 72 hours a clear sky is just empty of excitement, but I do like the last one the best out of this set.

Breakfast with the girls, Tim, Jeff, Garry, Jo and then we headed back to the Yacht club for more face to face, questions and answers with Tim.

Most people left by lunchtime and a few of us hung for lunch before heading back home.

I sure was weary when I walked in the front door.......

What a huge, educational and exhilarating weekend.

arno bay - saturday

Friday evening saw a bit of wine consumption with Jo, Denise and myself and I've cemented another couple of friendships forever.

The wind blew up during Friday night. So much so that the plastic outdoor chairs moved across the deck of the cabin where Denise and I were staying.

I was quite revved up due to the images I had on my camera of the sunset that evening. And with the bit of coughing that I'm working my way thru, I hardly slept a wink. Literally. I got up about midnight and worked on the laptop for a while. I hit the hay about 3am and still didn't sleep till about 4am. Damn bloody coughing.

Denise and I were up and at it by 5am. Unbeknown to me, I mis read the time for sunrise. ***insert a lot of eye rolls*** SunSET was 6.06, not sunRISE. lol.

So while Denise and I waited in the car at Red Banks for the sunrise, we spent about an hour chatting away about stuff in the dark. Luckily she found it all hilarious!!  oh dear.

Red Banks in the pre dawn light is a delight

and it's just breathtaking in the light of the new day.

So worth the effort. It was still windy as ever and I had the tripod anchored down with a bag of rocks and I did not dare step away from it. My hand was hovering near it the whole time just in case.

When we finished at Red Banks we went back to town with the intent to have breakfast, shower and get organised. But we saw a potential storm front coming in with strong lines in the clouds. We roared down to the Mangrove Boardwalk and captured this.

I decided to skip breakfast and had an hour Nana nap so I could make it thru the day. Margaret arrived, settled into the cabin and we had breakfast with her.

Morning tea, meet and greet was at 10.30 (I think) and I was surprised how many photographers were there. I'm thinking there would have been somewhere around 40 people, all keen to know more about the art of photography. And from all levels of talent and determination. And it was great to see many helping others out as we went along.

Tim Newbery  (scroll down to the 3rd person) lectured and inspired us. What a down to earth bloke with buckets and buckets of knowledge.  I've re learnt a fundamental rule that I had totally arse about face, much to my embarrassment.  So just that one thing and the pictures that I've taken over the weekend made the trip  so worth it. And I now have another couple of people in my book I can call upon for help or knowledge. That  in itself is gold!!

A few of us headed out to the end of the jetty in the hopes of a sunset. I must admit it didn't look like much was going to happen, and then, oh my goodness, this happened!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was gone in less than 5 minutes

We all had a social tea at the Arno Pub and I hit the wall about 9.30pm. Not even a raspberry could revive me. I headed back to the cabin and got all excited by the photos again. I think I eventually hit the bed about 1am.

LOL. I just can't help myself. I'm a night owl.

:O)

arno bay - friday

Many of the EP camera clubs met at Arno Bay this weekend for tuition and the chance to get out in the elements. Friday saw Denise and I take 2 hours to drive the 25 kms between Tumby Bay and Port Neil before making our way up to Arno Bay, just because of all the shutter stops ;op. The sunset at Redbanks was brilliant. The amazing cloud in the right place at the right time to create such an impressive sky. I was so in the zone!!!!!!!!!

These are the images from just Friday. Lots more to come  ;oP

The MAN is a MAN and with a Pink Paislee twist.

The beginning of the month brings in a new MAN(ufacturer) of the Month at Scrap Therapy.

And its a MAN!!!

None else than Tim Holtz.   whooooohooooooo!!! Bring him on.

And just to give the first month of Spring a bit of extra zing, I've teamed up Tim with House of Three Daily Junque (Pink Paislee)

So with this in mind and a special lady having a birthday tomorrow ;o)  I made a card. I don't do cards so this is a bit out of my comfort zone, but she sure is worth it!!!   :O)

I've used Tim's Dot Matrix & Gridlock Alterations Texture Fades with a Cuttlebug.  Green PP is Pink Paislee Ho3 Daily Junque - Tickets. I made the bloom from a double layer of tulle and a top layer of lace. And a Dear Lizzy Spring Flair pin to finish it off. Martha Stewart leaf Punch.
